Using the SURFcast "wave formula," different variables like swell period, direction, size and wind conditions are combined to create a unique score for each of the breaks that we cover. This score is an excellent indicator of the overall conditions at the beach, and the simple numerical value makes it easy to compare different spots and decide where to surf.
